Stop Calling It Failure: Trust the Timing of Your Creation

Have you ever poured your heart into something—hours, weeks, maybe months—only to feel like you’ve “failed” because the result didn’t show up the way you wanted?

Here’s the truth: you didn’t fail. You’re just still in process.

In creation, what happens under the surface matters just as much (if not more) than what’s visible above it. The roses aren’t blooming yet—but that doesn’t mean the roots aren’t growing.

In my Creation Programmes, I often assign simple homework between classes. It might be things like:

• One hour of relaxation time each day
  
  

• Three hours across the week journaling messages, visions, or inspirations (draw if you like!)
  
  

• Fifteen minutes a day doing the dishes mindfully as meditation
  
  

Most students complete these tasks diligently. But when it comes to journaling, frustration often shows up. I’ll hear:

• “I don’t understand the visions I’m getting.”
  
  

• “I wrote one thing down—was that all I was supposed to do?”
  
  

• “Why is this taking me so long?”
  
  

• “I’m not getting anything. I must be stupid.”
  
  

Here’s where I remind them of the real assignment:

The homework is simply to spend time in the process of noticing and writing. That’s it.

It is not to decode every message, fill pages with insight, or produce polished results on command.

✨ Process is practice. Results are byproducts.

Most people make the mistake of judging themselves too early—while they’re still mid-process, before the roses bloom.

They call themselves slow, stupid, or failures. They get impatient when results don’t appear instantly. Some even give up entirely, spiraling into doubt, depression, or unhelpful patterns.

Hands up if you relate to this!

Here’s a practice:

Write down three automatic reactions you have when results don’t show up the way you want. Then reflect—are those reactions necessary, if you remembered you’re still in process and it may simply be too soon to judge?

Growth doesn’t happen in straight lines.

Sometimes nothing happens for weeks. Then suddenly—breakthrough.

I’ve had students feel stuck through three sessions, then by Session Four, they’ve downloaded a new healing technique, designed a class, and already taught it to others.

In the “secular-muggle” world, the same thing happens. You grind away at a project with no progress, then suddenly the right collaborator appears, or the market shifts, and everything falls into place.

The outcome often arrives suddenly, unexpectedly. But only if you’ve spent enough time in the process.

Roses bloom in eight weeks. Oaks take 30 years.

One is not better or worse—they are simply different. You may be cultivating a rose… or an oak. Sometimes you don’t know which until you begin.

That’s why you must never rush to judge yourself as a failure. It may still be too soon.

Whenever possible, surround yourself with people who honor your timing. Work with mentors who don’t impose artificial deadlines. And if you’re in a conventional workplace, choose environments that value exploration and long-term vision over short-term optics.

Creation is non-linear. It unfolds in its own timing.

So relax. Stay present. Keep putting energy into the process, even when it looks like nothing is happening.

Because underneath the soil, the roots are growing.

And one day soon, you’ll look up and see the roses. 🌹
